Newcastle United are pushing Liverpool to drop their asking price for Andy Carroll.
The People says Newcastle hope to convince Liverpool to sell Carroll for less than their initial £17million valuation.
And Carroll, who has spent the season on loan at West Ham, is believed to be ready to do anything he can to make the move happen - including taking a cut to his £90,000-a-week Liverpool wages.
Newcastle's top earners pocket around £60,000-a-week and Carroll would have to drop to a similar level.
Carroll has regained his form recently at West Ham United, scoring four goals in his last six games, and produced an impressive display against Newcastle last week.
