Newcastle United are pulling back from a move for Chelsea attacker Salomon Kalou.

The Evening Chronicle says Toon look set to reject a move for Champions League winner Kalou - despite talk of a switch to Tyneside.

The Ivory Coast international was released on a free transfer by Chelsea in the aftermath of their dramatic penalty shoot-out win over Bayern Munich last month.

While the Magpies were among a list of clubs Kalou has been offered to since his departure from Stamford Bridge, a move north does not seem on the cards.
