Newcastle United are bracing for an approach from Crystal Palace for manager Alan Pardew.The Journal says the Toon manager's next scheduled meeting with the media is Tuesday but United will see whether Palace are serious or not for a move for their former player.

Pardew did not attend his post-match Press conference after the 3-2 win over Everton and two national newspapers have touted him for the job in the aftermath of the victory over the Toffees.

Pardew is understood to have been irked by the ideas of questions over the vacant post at Selhurst Park.

But while United kept their counsel on the matter last night, the main issue would be the compensation required to release him from his Newcastle contract.
