Newcastle ponder legal option against Coloccini

Newcastle United are prepared to take legal action against Fabricio Coloccini.

The Telegraph says Coloccini has continued to agitate for a move after Newcastle's refusal to sanction the termination of the 4½-year contract he signed last March, but sources have indicated the centre-back's position has softened.

Though there's claims Coloccini would refuse to play for Newcastle United again, he trained with the rest of the first team squad on Thursday and held a productive meeting with manager Alan Pardew.

Although Coloccini could, in theory, quit and retire, Newcastle warned the only way they would release him from his contract is if he stumped up £7 million in compensation.
