Newcastle players to pay for own club suits

Newcastle United players will have to pay for their own club suits in the coming season, it is being claimed by the News Post Leader.

The reported move is being made by United's multi-millionaire owner Mike Ashley as he looks to cut costs at St James's Park.

A club insider claims the players are yet to be informed of the decision.

But no doubt many will disapprove of Ashley's action, and the initiative could create a split between the players and the club's hierarchy.

Some might even question the need for a club suit when the owner himself attended last season's games wearing a Newcastle football shirt.

However, it is unlikely any will voice their disapproval in public over fears of attracting the anger of supporters who believe Premiership footballers earn far too much money as it is.
