Newcastle United's players are receptive to Joe Kinnear's methods.

A source told the People: "While Joe was confronting his critics about giving his players the day off on Monday, he had also given them that day off as well.

"He told the players to stay at home and relax and put their feet up. This is all because Newcastle were playing on a Sunday this week.

"This apart, I have to say that the players have been very receptive to Joe and they have trained hard this week."
