Newcastle players earn bonus thanks to top 10 finish

Newcastle United players and staff will receive a tidy bonus from this season's exploits with a top ten finish now confirmed.

The Daily Mail says Crystal Palace's 3-3 draw with Liverpool - watched by United boss Alan Pardew - means the 11th-placed Eagles can no longer overtake the Magpies.

Former director of football Joe Kinnear was involved in setting up this season's bonus scheme, for which skipper Fabricio Coloccini led a delegation of players who agreed to the 10th-placed target.

Every full-time employee is understood to benefit from the deal, from manager Pardew to the staff at NINE, the club bar located on the back of the Gallowgate End.

Staff will receive a percentage of their salary - not as high as the 10 per cent suggested elsewhere - but nonetheless a sizeable outlay by owner Mike Ashley.
