Newcastle players aware we are not above relegation - Ameobi

Shola Ameobi says the Newcastle United players are aware that no club is too good to be relegated.

The Magpies were hammered 6-0 at home by Liverpool on Saturday which sees them sitting 17th on the table following Aston Villa's 6-1 thumping of Sunderland tonight and Ameobi admits there is some concern in the St James' Park dressing room right now.

"The players are worried," Ameobi told The Journal. "It's never nice to lose like that. But the next three games, we can use this to spark us.

"Nobody is too good to go down, as we found out last time. I'm sure the players understand that, and that's what the manager will be impressing on us this week.

"If someone comes to your home patch and does that to you, it is never a nice feeling. I have seen a lot of anger in that dressing room, which is understandable."

Newcastle are on 37 points, five clear of 18th-placed Wigan Athletic with three matches remaining whilst the Latics have four. QPR and Reading have already been relegated.
