The extent of the players' anger at Newcastle United has been revealed.

One unnamed player sent a text to the Evening Chronicle after their defeat to Hull City, stating: "The players did not speak after the game because how can we?

"We are not allowed to be honest and say what we want.

"It's time for the people upstairs to speak up for themselves rather than reel us out to do it for them.

"It's a shambles."
