Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew is ready to hold a major clearout this summer.

The Journal says Danny Simpson will leave along with Steve Harper but the club will also listen to offers for Mike Williamson and Dan Gosling.

There is also uncertainty surrounding Gabriel Obertan and the crop of youngsters who figured prominently in the Europa League campaign but were not able to translate that form into Premier League performances.

United will also be open to enquiries about Romain Amalfitano, who has struggled to break into the first-team squad, while Mehdi Abeid's progress has stalled over the last couple of seasons.
