Carlisle United's Gateshead-born hot shot Gary Madine is in the sights of Newcastle United.
The Sunday Sun says Toon reserve boss Peter Beardsley has run the rule over Madine on three occasions this season - and was back at Brunton Park last weekend to see the Cumbrians' goalless draw with Swindon Town.
Madine, who United tried to sign before he penned professional terms with Carlisle, was the player under the spotlight on all three occasions.
