Newcastle plan £6M bid for Celtic striker McDonald

The Daily Mail says the troubled St James' Park outfit have spent the last seven weeks watching McDonald and team-mate Aiden McGeady as new boss Kevin Keegan compiles a close-season wish list for his expected £50m war chest.

And while £12m-rated McGeady is still very much on their radar, 25-goal McDonald has moved to the top of Newcastle's wanted list as Keegan looks to breathe new life into a tired-looking attack.

McDonald, who penned a three-year deal when he joined Celtic for £600,000 in the summer, has become a fans favourite for his hard-working style and his ability to net crucial goals.

But the chance to earn 10 times what they spent on the 24-year-old might seriously tempt Celtic to cash in.
