Newcastle plan massive summer overhaul

Newcastle United are preparing for a massive summer overhaul.

The Sunday Express says reports suggest that Newcastle expect to bring in as many as six or seven new signings at the end of the season.

However, the extent of Newcastle's spending is likely to depend on departures.

It is thought that Toon boss Alan Pardew lacks confidence in Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa's suitability for the Premier League, while stalwart Shola Ameobi could also end his 19-year association with the club in the summer.

Steven Taylor is thought to be a target for Steve Bruce at Hull and his discontent at Newcastle could lead to him becoming available, while Tim Krul's status at the club also remains unclear.
