Newcastle United are eyeing Everton striker Jermaine Beckford.
The Sunday Sun says United have discussed the Everton forward - although interest is yet to progress to a formal enquiry to current club Everton.
Beckford was Leeds United's top target in the January transfer window of their Championship-winning season, with several bids lodged to try and tempt Leeds to part with their top scorer.
Ken Bates dug his heels in and made Beckford stay at Elland Road, however, with the striker eventually lining up a free transfer to Goodison Park and United moving on to sign Leon Best.
However, Newcastle continue to monitor developments with Beckford, who improved at Everton following a slow start to life in the Premier League.
