Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley has no interest in the feelings of the support towards manager Alan Pardew.
The Daily Star says while Pardew's future hangs in the balance, Ashley will not sack him just to appease irate supporters.
He sat alongside chief executive Lee Charnley at St Mary's but it is Ashley alone who will decide Pardew's fate.
Even before Saturday's defeat, Newcastle banned one national newspaper journalist last week for suggesting that Pardew's job was on the line.
Pardew vowed to battle on after his side's mauling by Southampton, one of his former clubs.
But his position looks increasingly untenable.
