Newcastle owner Ashley lost confidence in Kinnear after Cabaye, Salah blunders

Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley fast lost confidence in Joe Kinnear's ability in the transfer market last month.

Kinnear left his job as football director on Monday night.

The Independent says the pair clashed last week following the sale of Yohan Cabaye to PSG for less than the £25million Mike Ashley expected, believed to be around the £20m mark.

It is also reported that Kinnear privately claimed Newcastle were going to sign Mohamad Salah last month for £25m after a deal had already been struck with Chelsea for less than half that figure.
