Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley is standing by manager Alan Pardew.
The Evening Chronicle says United will stick by the manager, and it is believed Ashley will work with Pardew to boost the squad and ensure that he has adequate back-up.
Pardew said: "We have got ourselves in this position, we have to stand strong."
