Michael Owen won't commit his future to Newcastle United until Mike Ashley has sold the club, it has been revealed.

The Times says Kevin Keegan's subsequent resignation came after revelations that Owen had been offered to other clubs in the final hours of September 1 and, as things stand, there is little chance of the 28-year-old committing his future to Newcastle under Ashley's regime.

Like the club's supporters, Owen is waiting with interest for new owners to emerge.
