Newcastle United are ready to try again for Bordeaux striker Yoann Gouffran.

The Evening Chronicle says the Magpies have had a £680,000 bid turned down but are expected to return for the 26-year-old Bordeaux striker with a fresh bid.

Gouffran is out of contract at the end of the season and Newcastle had him in mind for a Bosman style transfer in any case.
