Newcastle United assistant manager John Carver says Alan Pardew deserves the gongs coming his way.

Carver says Pardew is well deserving of the accolades for the successful campaign.

"To get that award from all the managers, your peers, is some achievement when you think about it," Carver said. "There were a lot of other contenders, and it just shows you what type of year we've had, and the fact he did praise everybody shows what type of person he is."

Carver knows the next campaign will be hard as Pardew's players will no longer be unknown names in English Football.

"We'll have to work even harder next season, as teams will understand us a bit more," Carver said.

"It was a fantastic achievement finishing fifth, and we want to do it again next season. We'll have to work even harder."
