Newcastle United No2 John Carver feels Demba Ba can only get better.

Ba struck a hat-trick last week against Blackburn Rovers.

Carver told the Evening Chronicle: "Demba's had a couple of days off.

"He got a kick on his foot the day before the Blackburn game, and played after having some treatment. He's had time to recover, and will be raring to go. He's had a big smile on his face.

"Demba's got his sharpness back now, and is more confident.

"He's got to keep performing, as has every player, as there's people waiting for a chance."
