Newcastle United No2 John Carver feels former Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe will thrive at Toronto FC.
Carver is a former head coach of the MLS outfit.
"Jermain can be as big a superstar in Toronto as he was in England," Carver told the Daily Mail.
"I think he's going at the right time in his career. The boys over there are very fit, as fit as they are here, so he'll still have that sharpness. But where he can make the difference is his ability, he'll be a class apart and I think that will tell.
"There are a lot of good people there and it's a club heading in the right direction.
"Jermain going there is huge for them and shows that ambition - I think he'll love it and they'll love him."
