Yoan Gouffran is eager to repay Newcastle's fans for their warm welcome of the club's new French signings. That raft of winter signings took the total of French imports on Tyneside to 10, while another four players speak French as their first language.
Asked if he was aware of the support during the victory against Chelsea, Gouffran told Sky Sports: "All of the French players, we saw that in the stadium. We saw people with moustaches, berets, with garlic and obviously the French flag flying high.
"Obviously against Chelsea it was an absolutely superb atmosphere.
"We were really happy to be able to see that. The fans have given us a fantastic welcome and we're trying to go out on the pitch, do our best and win games to repay that thanks."
