Newcastle United are pressing to land Wigan Athletic winger Charles N'Zogbia.
The People says Newcastle have had a £5m offer for their former winger N'Zogbia turned down by Wigan.
Toon would offer the Frenchman £60,000 a week to return but they will have to fork out £10m if they want to seal a deal.
Those figures forced north-east rivals Sunderland out of the running for N'Zogbia, 24.
