Newcastle United are eyeing Genoa wing-back Diego Laxalt.

Atalanta have been haggling over terms with Genoa for the Uruguay international, while Fiorentina are also in contact.

However, local sources say Newcastle are now making a move for the wing-back.

Laxalt, who can play in midfield and as a wing-back, is expected to be sold in the coming weeks and Toon boss Rafa Benitez hopes to bring him to Tyneside.

Genoa are seeking €15m to sell.
