Newcastle United are interested in Roma fullback Ashley Cole.

Cole is expected to be cut loose by Roma in January after falling off the first team map this season.

A return to England has been mooted for the Chelsea legend and Sky Italia says Newcastle are keen.

Toon boss Steve McClaren has problems at left-back and worked with Cole as England coach.

The veteran has also been linked with a MLS move.
