Carlisle United's teenage hot-shot Gary Madine is a target for Newcastle.

The 17-year-old is a star of Carlisle's FA Youth Cup run, helping them knock out Manchester United, and he has just signed a professional contract with the Cumbrians.

Madine comes from Gateshead and slipped the Geordie net, a problem owner Mike Ashley is trying to address with his new super-spy team of Jeff Vetere and Tony Jimenez. The Toon are planning to sign eight or nine top kids from around the world, but the first could be local boy Madine, says the Mirror.
