Bolton Wanderers player-coach Gary Speed is set to be offered a coaching role at Newcastle United.
The Daily Mail says the 38-year-old first team coach was stunned to be left out of the team to face Chelsea on Sunday and spent yesterday in discussions about his future.
Speed had five seasons at Newcastle and was sounded out about moving back when former Bolton boss Sam Allardyce took over as manager in May.
But his desire to combine playing with coaching ensured he became part of Lee's backroom staff.
