Newcastle United midfielder Yohan Cabaye has been hit with a three-match ban by the Football Association.
The Frenchman has been found guilty of violent conduct after he allegedly kicked out at Adam El-Abd in the 1-0 FA Cup fourth round loss to Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday.
The Magpies contested the charge but the FA have deemed his action to be deliberate and violent and have subsequently suspended him for three matches.
The suspension will commence with immediate effect forcing Cabaye to miss tonight's meeting with Blackburn Rovers as well as the February 5 clash with Aston Villa and the February 11 trip to Tottenham.
