Newcastle may block Bigirimana loan exit

Newcastle United may block Gael Bigirimana's plans to go out on-loan after Mehdi Abeid suffered a toe fracture.

Abeid jetted back to Tyneside on Sunday after sustaining the injury in training, a development that ruled him out of Algeria's win over Ethiopia on Saturday.

The Journal says Bigirimana was set to move to Yeovil last week before a move fell through because of the Glovers' injury situation but United may yet need him. They have Vurnon Anita who can step into the team but if Tiote and Abeid are both out, their resources are significantly diminished in that area.

Faced with a similar situation in defence last week, Newcastle recalled young defender Remi Streete from a loan spell at Port Vale.
