Newcastle United fullback Ryan Taylor admits he's been flying since Jose Enrique's sale to Liverpool.

For victory over Everton, the makeshift left-back added to John Heitinga's sloppy own goal early on with a superb dipping 20-yard screamer, which crashed in via the underside of the bar.

The Scouser, just a back-up player last season, is exceeding expectations. He said: "Things could have worked out the other way after Jose Enrique left.

"Thankfully the gaffer gave me a chance and it's worked out well."
