The FA has charged Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez for questioning the choice of match-referee for the game against Preston.
Huddersfield referee Andrew Madley refereed the game as the Magpies won 4-1 to win promotion to Premier League. A defeat for the Magpies would have kept Madley's home team Huddersfield Town in the race for top two.
When asked about the appointment, he said: "I was really surprised with that situation.
"In Spain this thing doesn't happen.
"So when you have a referee from a city or a team that are more or less close in the table, normally they don't referee those games.
"We don't have any problem, but we just want to avoid a situation that maybe nobody will understand."
He has now been charged for misconduct by the FA for his controversial remarks.
