Newcastle make FC Twente's Douglas top defensive target

FC Twente stopper Douglas is Newcastle United’s top defensive transfer target.

Toon boss Alan Pardew has shrugged off missing out on Watford captain Adrian Mariappa in January.

The Evening Chronicle says Newcastle are set to wait until the summer, when they are hoping to negotiate a package for FC Twente defender Douglas, with Ajax’s Jan Vertonghen also high on Pardew’s list.
