Newcastle United are launching a £6 million bid for Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor.

The Daily Mail says Newcastle have already been in touch with McGregor's agent, Willie Mackay, to establish what it might take for Rangers to part with the 26-year-old, who is also interesting Tottenham.

McGregor is earning around £12,000 a week and would expect to more than double his money by moving to the Premiership following a string of headlines concerning his private life.
