Newcastle midfielder Sylvain Marveaux has undergone successful surgery in America but is looking at four months out to recover.

Newcastle midfielder Sylvain Marveaux has undergone successful surgery in America but is looking at four months out to recover.

The Frenchman, a summer arrival at St James' Park from Rennes, went under the knife at the Steadman Clinic in Colorado.

Boss Alan Pardew said: "Marveaux had a successful operation in America, so we are really pleased about that.

"We think that's going to be three to four months, perhaps four months, but it was a very successful operation."
