Reading defender Alex Pearce hopes to return to the Premier League this summer.
The Sun says Liverpool and Newcastle United will fight it out over Pearce after Reading gave up on persuading the defender to stay.
The Republic of Ireland international, 24, played for Kop boss Brendan Rodgers when he was in charge of the Royals.
Pearce can leave the Madejski on a free.
