Rangers are bracing for fresh bid for striker Nikica Jelavic in January.

The Daily Express says there is expected to be strong New Year interest in Jelavic. He has been linked with Newcastle United in recent days but his advisors are unaware of that interest. Sources close to Jelavic believe that if he isn't sold in January then the club would look to try and get him to sign an extension.

That is an arrangement that could suit both parties as Jelavic has helped fire Croatia to Euro 2012 and if he plays and does well in the Ukraine and Poland then his value could rocket.

Rangers turned down a £6 million bid from Championship side Leicester City in August and also claimed they had another £8 million offer from another unnamed club.
