Newcastle United legend Malcolm MacDonald is no fan of the club's executive football chief Dennis Wise.

"All the signing Dennis Wise has brought in are just not good enough to play for Newcastle," MacDonald told The Daily Star.

"That's the way they have been conducting their transfer business, bringing in second-rate players.

"Now we face a summer where Owen will go. Nicky Butt and Steve Harper's contracts are up. Shay Given and Charles N'Zogbia want away too.

Turning his attention to the fall-out between N'Zogbia and Andy Carroll, MacDonald added: "These things only happen at a club in crisis."
