Newcastle United and England legend Alan Shearer has wrote off the country's World Cup chances.

The Three Lions face Germany tonight at Wembley.

"I think we need to be realistic," he told the Daily Star. "We aren't going to win it.

"I think if we can go to Rio and make the quarter finals then we can view that as a success.

"I definitely don't think England can win. We just aren't ready yet."
