Newcastle United and England Alan Shearer has slammed Fabio Capello's handling of the Three Lions captaincy.
The Italian indicated John Terry will replace Rio Ferdinand as permanent skipper - but has not discussed the situation with either player.
Former England captain Shearer said: 'It will have a big effect on Rio because he won't like it. I know he's injured anyway but he won't like it.
"I'm sure he will respect the manager's decision. But if it's going to happen and Rio's read about it in the newspapers, it's not a good way to do your business. It's totally wrong.
"The first thing Capello should have done is speak to Rio. He should have been the first to know."
