Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer is ready to give up his box at St James' Park.

During an interview with Radio 1 breakfast show presenter Nick Grimshaw he explained how for years he has shared a box at the stadium with nine friends.

But for the 2015/16 season, Shearer said, none of his friends are renewing their season tickets.

After being told by a listener called Kelly that she was considering giving up her own Newcastle United season ticket, he responded on air: "I'm a season ticket holder and I'm a box holder myself and nine other guys.

"We've had a box for the last few years and my mates are not doing it no longer so they're not buying the box this year."
