Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer says the club has two future stars on their books in Steven Taylor and James Milner.

On Taylor, Shearer told the Evening Chronicle: "He's done very well and been a regular in the first team at Newcastle. He's not the finished article yet by any means, but for the first time in his career he's in the England squad and that should stand him in good stead.

"It's brilliant to see a local lad come through the ranks and represent his country.

"He has a lot to learn but the experience of being in the squad should help him."

For Milner, Shearer added: "He went to Aston Villa and did very well. He delivers a decent ball into the box and is certainly going in the right direction."
