Newcastle legend Shearer: I can see myself in Tottenham's Kane

Alan Shearer says he can see why Harry Kane is being compared to him.

?The talented Tottenham striker is gearing up for his potential England debut which could come in Friday night's Euro2016 qualifier against Lithuania at Wembley and Shearer is backing him to perform.

?The England and Newcastle United legend, who scored 30 goals for his country, can see similarities between himself and 21-year old Kane and hopes the Spurs star can follow in his footsteps.

?"He wants the chance to prove himself. I was the same, and I can understand why he has been compared to me," Shearer told BBC Sport.

?"He is not the kind of player who will stop working hard just because he has been called up to the senior squad for the first time by Roy Hodgson.

?"He has scored 29 goals already this season and is clearly in brilliant form, so Friday would be a great chance for him to make a flying start to his England career with a goal on his debut.

"Kane is certainly capable of it and I know how extra special it would be for him because it happened to me."?
