Newcastle United striker Dwight Gayle is edging closer to a move to West Brom.

The Daily Mail says Gayle was left out of Newcastle's squad for their friendly against Augsburg on Saturday as he looks to finalise terms on a swap move to West Bromwich Albion.

The 27-year-old will head to the Hawthorns with Salomon Rondon heading in the opposite direction. Rondon was left out of Albion's squad to face Bolton.

The deal is an initial loan with both having the option to become permanent next summer.

Gayle made 35 Premier League appearances for the Magpies last season, scoring six times.
