Newcastle United will not be competing for Chelsea striker Danny Sturridge.
Sturridge could be available at Chelsea with new manager Andre Villas-Boas planning to bring in his own strikers.
The Evening Chronicle says it is unlikely the ex-Manchester City man will be heading to Tyneside.
Sturridge spent last season on loan at Bolton Wanderers and the Trotters are keen to bring him to the Reebok Stadium on a permanent basis if they can.
West Bromwich Albion and Stoke City are also keen on the man who netted eight goals last term while on loan at Wanderers.
A United source said today: "The manager is looking into other players, so it is unlikely Sturridge will be coming to Newcastle."
