Newcastle United won't be competing for Cardiff City defender Steven Caulker.

The Journal says United's need to bring in new recruits has seen them inundated with offers to take players who have become available this summer.

Caulker was put to the board earlier this month but Newcastle do not believe they need another centre-back.

The England cap is interesting Crystal Palace, Liverpool and Tottenham.
