Newcastle United are launching a January bid for Besiktas star Cenk Tosun.

The Daily Star says Toon chief Rafa Benitez is planning a shake-up of his strikers when the transfer window re-opens with the Turk at the top of his wanted list.

The Magpies have watched Tosun in action for both club and country in the past month and have already registered their interest with Besiktas.

Both Tottenham and Crystal Palace are also monitoring German-born Tosun, but it is Newcastle who are at the front of the queue to land a player who has made no secret of his desire to play in the Premier League.

Besiktas value him in the £15m bracket and Benitez may struggle to persuade Toon owner Mike Ashley to finance a bid.
