Newcastle United are lining up a £5 million bid for Celtic striker Gary Hooper.

The Scottish Sun says Magpies boss Alan Pardew has been tracking Hooper since the start of the season.

He plans to continue keeping tabs on the prolific hitman as he prepares to make a bumper bid when the transfer window opens in the New Year.

Pardew is desperate to splash out on a new striker and 23-year-old Hooper is top of his list of potential targets.
