Switzerland midfielder Tranquillo Barnetta is a top target for Newcastle United.
The Daily Mail says Newcastle are closing in on Barnetta, who scored twice against England at Wembley this month.
Bayer Leverkusen's £6million-rated midfielder, 26, opened the door by making it clear he wants to leave the German club.
Barnetta has also been a long-term target for Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger.
