Newcastle United know Liverpool are keen on left-back Jose Enrique.
The Evening Chronicle says Liverpool are admirers of the left-back, and Anfield director of football Damien Comolli was spotted in the stands at Ewood Park on Saturday.
Comolli is the man entrusted by American tycoon John Henry to oversee transfer targets and works closely with Kenny Dalglish, with the Reds set to spend big again in the summer.
Liverpool have had problems at left-back this season and are currently fielding right-back Glen Johnson in that position after sending Paul Konchesky on loan to Nottingham Forest.
However, Enrique's current deal does not run out until 2012 and United fans will be praying the club's only senior left-back is not sold.
